Travel- Isle of Bute Homecoming: Ferry to Rothesay, Ancestry & Serendipity

with No Comments

Hello from the Isle of Bute (near Rothesay) 💙
After weeks of on-off van issues, I finally made the ferry—right in time to honour my mum’s anniversary (29 Sept) and remember Uncle James & Uncle Chris. First time back since I was a teen. Met a lovely local, Billy, who even knows a Lena Zavaroni cousin—tiny heritage threads weaving back to my family street.

I’m staying a bit, touring the island, and following clues about my Scottish roots. If you’re into ancestry travel, quiet courage, grief rituals, and the calm of the sea, come along. 🌊

What’s inside (short & sweet):
• Ferry jitters → arrival joy
• Why this date matters to my family
• A serendipitous local connection (Lena Zavaroni link)
• Plans to explore and document the island
